Dinners, talks, and whatever else the house opens its doors for. Times are America/New York.
Sergei Bondarchuk’s War and Peace is a seven-hour epic made with the resources—and national pride—of the Soviet Union behind it. Conceived as a crowning achievement of Soviet cinema, it was meant to reclaim Tolstoy from Hollywood’s 1956 adaptation and show the world what Soviet filmmaking could accomplish. The government supplied a virtually unlimited budget, thousands of soldiers as extras, and priceless objects from 58 museums. The spending and state support were so extensive that the true cost remains impossible to calculate. https://boxd.it/1nRy
